This dynamic 6-day tour is the perfect escape into Morocco’s dramatic landscapes, starting from the vibrant energy of Marrakech. Venture over the High Atlas Mountains to explore ancient kasbahs and film studios in Ouarzazate.
Journey further into the pre-Saharan region, experiencing the breathtaking Todra Gorge before arriving at the edge of the Sahara Desert for a camel trek and overnight under the stars. The return trip unveils the lush Draa Valley before crossing the mountains back to Marrakech for a final day of guided exploration in the “Red City.”
Upon arrival at Casablanca International Airport, you will be welcomed by our team. If time permits, you will visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque. In the late afternoon, you will be driven to Marrakech via highway. Check into your hotel or riad and enjoy free time for the evening.
After breakfast, depart Marrakech and ascend into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m) with scenic photo stops. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified village famous for its film appearances. Continue to Ouarzazate, “Hollywood of Morocco,” to see its film studios. Drive through the Skoura oasis and Rose Valley to reach the Dades Valley for the night.
After breakfast, depart for the Sahara. Drive through Berber villages and stop for panoramic views of the Todra Valley before arriving at the stunning Todra Gorge for a walk. Continue via the fossil town of Erfoud to Merzouga. Here, you will enjoy a welcome tea before mounting a camel for a sunset trek across the dunes to your desert camp for dinner and an overnight under the stars.
Wake up early for a spectacular desert sunrise and breakfast at the camp. Ride your camel back to the village, then begin the long but scenic return journey to Marrakech. You will travel through the Anti-Atlas Mountains, pass through the long oasis of the Draa Valley, and stop in Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains once more. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening.
After breakfast, meet your local guide for a full-day tour of the “Red City.” Explore historical sites such as the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Koutoubia Mosque. The tour includes visits to the beautiful Majorelle and Menara Gardens. Overnight in your riad.
After breakfast, enjoy some free time before being transferred to Marrakech Menara Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your tour.
You spend two nights in the Merzouga desert area, but in different types of accommodation. The second night is in a desert camp (tents) after a camel trek. The third night is in a hotel in the town of Merzouga, allowing you to enjoy hotel amenities like a private bathroom and possibly a pool after your desert experience.
Yes, our premium desert camps provide shared bathroom facilities with basic toilets and showers. Please note that while they are clean and functional, amenities are simpler than in a city hotel, in keeping with the remote desert environment. We recommend bringing personal toiletries.
The tour involves some walking over uneven terrain (e.g., in Ait Ben Haddou and Todra Gorges) and the camel ride, which requires mounting/dismounting. While we welcome families, very young children or those with significant mobility concerns may find parts challenging. Please contact us to discuss private vehicle adjustments or alternative arrangements to best accommodate your needs.
The tours we offer are examples of our most popular journeys. However, Morocco is best experienced at your own pace and interest. If you have different dates, destinations, or specific requirements, please contact us. We will happily customize a private itinerary—adjusting durations, accommodations, activities, or routes—to ensure your trip is exactly as you envision.
