5 DAYS SAHARA DESERT TRIP FROM MARRAKECH

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains– Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate – Ait Oufi:

After having your breakfast we pick you up from your Hotel, Riad… depends on your accommodation and we start our Gran Desert tour. Driving towards High Atlas Mountains where we are going to cross Tizi N Ticha Pass (2260 m), of course we will have some stops to take some pictures and to enjoy the Atlas Mountains views.

Subsequently, we continue our way to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah which is a UNESCO world heritage site. And then visiting the old village where a lot of movies were filmed, such as Game of thrones, Gladiator, the Bible, Lawrence of Arabia and more. After that we continue towards Ouarzazate (African Hollywood) where we are going to see cinema studios. Then we continue our trip towards Ait Oufi Dades valley through the huge Skoura valley and Rose Valley, arriving our destination and overnight in our Hotel/Riad.

Day 2: Ait Oufi Dades -Todra Valley/Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Sahara Desert:

Have your fabulous breakfast in your Riad and get ready to leave Ait Oufi to our next destination Sahara Desert. On Ait Oufi-Merzouga we will pass through Berber villages scattering alongside the road. We will have panoramic view stops in Todra Valley before we arrive to Todra Gorges where we will have a short walk through its rocks and cliffs which are known to be a good destination for rock climbing.

Later on we continue our drive to Merzouga passing via Erfoud “capital of fossils and dates”. Up to our arrival to the Sahara Desert you get prepared to start your camel ride crossing the Erg Chebbi dunes to arrive to your desert camp deep in Sahara Desert of Merzouga, and then Overnight in a desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga Sahara Desert – Khamlia Village – Nomads – Merzouga Oasis – Merzouga:

We pick you up after having your breakfast as usual, and drive to Fez. Our journey will take us through numerous villages such as Erfoud, Aoufous…, to arrive to Ziz Valley.

More lately, we start heading via High-Atlas Mountains, crossing “Tizi N Telghemt” Camel pass (1907m) to get to Midelt, and then crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains; where we meet some Barbary Apes. Afterwards, we continue our way to Fez through Ifrane which is considered as Switzerland of Morocco. Drop off in Fes, end of your desert trip.

Day 4: Merzouga Sahara Desert – Rissani – Nkoub – Draa Valley – Agdez –Ouarzazate:

We pick you up after having your breakfast as usual, and drive to Ouarzazte. Our journey will take us through numerous villages such as Alnif, N’Kob…to arrive to Draa Valley and Agdez. More lately, we start heading through Anti-Atlas Mountains, crossing Tizi N Tnifift pass (1659m) to get to Ouarzazate, and then overnight in a charming Riad.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mounains – Marrakech:

After your fabulous Breakfast, we go ahead via High Atlas Mountains back to the Red city of Marrakech. Drop off and end of our services.

What are the accommodation types like?

You will experience a variety of authentic Moroccan lodgings: a comfortable hotel or riad in the Dades Valley, a traditional desert camp with private tents and shared bathroom facilities in the Sahara, a hotel in Merzouga, and a charming, traditionally styled riad in Ouarzazate.

Do we spend two nights in the desert?

You spend two nights in the Merzouga desert area, but in different types of accommodation. The second night is in a desert camp (tents) after a camel trek. The third night is in a hotel in the town of Merzouga, allowing you to enjoy hotel amenities like a private bathroom and possibly a pool after your desert experience.

Are there bathroom facilities at the desert camp?

Yes, our premium desert camps provide shared bathroom facilities with basic toilets and showers. Please note that while they are clean and functional, amenities are simpler than in a city hotel, in keeping with the remote desert environment. We recommend bringing personal toiletries.

Is this tour suitable for children or travelers with limited mobility?

The tour involves some walking over uneven terrain (e.g., in Ait Ben Haddou and Todra Gorges) and the camel ride, which requires mounting/dismounting. While we welcome families, very young children or those with significant mobility concerns may find parts challenging.
