This immersive 4 DAYS SAHARA DESERT TRIP FROM MARRAKECH a breathtaking adventure through Morocco’s most iconic landscapes and cultural treasures. Starting with a scenic drive across the majestic High Atlas Mountains, you’ll explore ancient kasbahs, sweeping valleys, and historic film locations before venturing deep into the golden dunes of Merzouga.
Spend a night under the stars in a traditional desert camp after a serene camel trek at sunset, and wake to a spectacular sunrise over the endless sands. The return trip winds through lush oases, dramatic gorges, and traditional Berber villages, offering a rich tapestry of natural beauty, history, and authentic Moroccan hospitality.
After having your breakfast we pick you up from your Hotel, Riad… depends on your accommodation and we start our desert trip. Driving towards High Atlas Mountains where we are going to cross Tizi N Ticha Pass (2260m), of course we will have some stops to take some pictures and to enjoy the gorgeous mountain views.
Subsequently, we continue our way to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah which is a UNESCO world heritage site. And then visiting the old village where a lot of movies were filmed, such as Game of thrones, Gladiator, The Bible, Lawrence of Arabia and more. After that we continue towards Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) where we are going to see cinema studios.
Then we continue our trip towards Tissadrin through the huge Skoura valley and Rose Valley, arriving our destination and overnight in our Hotel/Riad.
Have your fabulous breakfast in your Riad and get ready to leave Dades Valley to our next destination Sahara Desert. On Tissadrine Dades-Merzouga we will pass through Berber villages scattering alongside the road. We will have panoramic view stops in Todra Valley before we arrive to Todra Gorges where we will have a short walk through its rocks and cliffs which are known to be a good destination for rock climbing.
Later on we continue our drive to Merzouga passing via Erfoud “capital of fossils and dates”. Up to our arrival to the Sahara Desert you get prepared to start your camel ride crossing the Erg Chebbi dunes to arrive to your desert camp deep in Sahara Desert of Merzouga. Overnight in a desert camp.
Get up early for what might be the charming sunrise ever. To see the sun coming up over the golden sand dunes is something that you should see at least once in lifetime (have breakfast deep in dunes). After doing so, you trek back to meet your driver and get ready prepared, we pick you up and drive to Ouarzazte.
Our journey will take us through numerous villages such as Alnif, Nkoub… to arrive to Draa Valley and Agdez. More lately, we start heading through Anti-Atlas Mountains, cross Tizi N Tnifift pass (1659m) to get to Ouarzazate. Overnight in a charming Riad.
After your fabulous Breakfast, we go ahead via High Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech. Drop off and end of our services.
The most pleasant times are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when daytime temperatures are warm and nights are comfortable. Summers can be extremely hot in the desert, while winters bring cold nights. The tour operates year-round, and each season offers a unique experience.
Essentials include comfortable clothing (light layers for day, a warm jacket for night), sturdy shoes, a scarf for sun/dust, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, a camera, and a flashlight or headlamp. For the camel trek, a small backpack is recommended. All main luggage will remain secured in the vehicle.
Yes, our premium desert camps provide shared bathroom facilities with basic toilets and showers. Please note that while they are clean and functional, amenities are simpler than in a city hotel, in keeping with the remote desert environment. We recommend bringing personal toiletries.
The tour involves some walking over uneven terrain (e.g., in Ait Ben Haddou and Todra Gorges) and the camel ride, which requires mounting/dismounting. While we welcome families, very young children or those with significant mobility concerns may find parts challenging. Please contact us to discuss private vehicle adjustments or alternative arrangements to best accommodate your needs.
The tours we offer are examples of our most popular journeys. However, Morocco is best experienced at your own pace and interest. If you have different dates, destinations, or specific requirements, please contact us. We will happily customize a private itinerary—adjusting durations, accommodations, activities, or routes—to ensure your trip is exactly as you envision.
